Chinese Ambassador's Statement in Qatar

Chinese President Xi Jinping has criticized the United States' decision to sell advanced weapons to Taiwan, stating that it severely violates the principle of One China and undermines stability in the Taiwan Strait. In early December 2025, the US announced massive arms sales, provoking outrage among Chinese authorities.

China's Position on the Taiwan Situation

China views the Taiwan issue as an internal matter, asserting that Taiwan is an inseparable part of its territory. In accordance with UN General Assembly Resolution 2758 from 1971, the government of the People's Republic of China is recognized as the only legitimate government representing all of China.

The United States' Response and Responsibilities

Despite previous statements promising not to pursue long-term arms sales policies to Taiwan, the reality has proven otherwise. This action not only impacts China's sovereignty but also encourages separatist forces in Taiwan. It is emphasized that, although tensions persist, the idea of reunification remains essential and inevitable.

Threats to Peace

China has warned that any provocation concerning Taiwan will be met with a firm response. Sales of arms to Taiwan not only escalate the conflict but also jeopardize regional stability.
