Ripple Secures EMI License Approval in Luxembourg
Ripple Expands Operations in Europe
Ripple, the blockchain-based payment company, has announced that it has received preliminary approval for its Electronic Money Institution (EMI) license from the financial authorities in Luxembourg. This approval strengthens Ripple's plans for expansion within the European Union, following its recent agreement in the United Kingdom, and supports the company's commitment to comply with MiCA regulations.
“Obtaining preliminary approval is a crucial step, allowing Ripple to provide essential infrastructure for digital assets to our clients in Europe,” said Cassie Craddock, Ripple's General Manager for the UK and Europe. Approved in the form of a “letter of agreement” from the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF) in Luxembourg, this milestone is vital for attaining full authorization, which will enable Ripple to offer regulated payment services in stablecoins and other digital assets across the European Union.
Ripple has 15 offices worldwide, including in London, Dublin, Luxembourg, Geneva, and Reykjavik. The company continues to work with authorities to ensure regulatory compliance and to achieve full adherence to the MiCA framework in the coming months.
