Massive Liquidity Injections Expected to Boost BTC Price

Bitcoin's price could rise in 2026 due to a loosening of monetary policy that would inject "massive" liquidity into the markets, according to Bill Barhydt, CEO of the crypto exchange and wallet platform Abra. In an interview with Schwab Network, he stated that he anticipates substantial liquidity injections from the U.S. Federal Reserve as interest rate cuts continue. This could revitalize the quantitative easing program and boost risk assets like Bitcoin. Barhydt noted, "We are witnessing a moderate quantitative easing right now. The Fed is beginning to buy its own bonds. I believe the demand for government debt will significantly decrease next year with the lowering of rates. All of this is good news for all assets, including Bitcoin."

Additionally, Barhydt emphasized that clarity in regulations within the U.S. and increased institutional investments, combined with lower interest rates, suggest that the crypto market could experience "a few excellent years." However, only 14.9% of investors expect a rate cut at the next FOMC meeting in January, a decrease from 23% in November, according to data from the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) Group.

On the flip side, analysts and early Bitcoin investors suggest that 2026 could be a poor year for BTC prices, with Michael Terpin forecasting a drop to around $60,000 in the last quarter of the year. He warned that the midterm elections in 2026 could undermine favorable regulations, stating, "Anything short of a landslide victory for the GOP in the elections will limit regulatory friendliness."
