American Politicians Respond Following Venezuela Briefing

Leading politicians in the United States Congress, both Democrats and Republicans, have expressed their reactions after receiving a briefing from Secretary of State Marco Rubio regarding the American operation to capture Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

The briefing took place on January 6, 2026, amidst rising tensions between the United States and Venezuela. The United States asserts its position of not recognizing Maduro's legitimacy, deeming him an illegitimate leader.

Additionally, gunfire exchanges have been reported in the Venezuelan capital, and unauthorized drones have raised new concerns regarding local security. Meanwhile, Delcy Rodriguez has taken an oath as interim president of Venezuela, prompting varied reactions at both national and international levels.

"I am still the president of my country," stated Nicolas Maduro in a court proceeding in the United States, emphasizing his commitment to leading Venezuela. Venezuela has also issued a statement to the UN, claiming that its sovereignty is under threat.
