Saudi Arabia Prepares for Dialogue in Southern Yemen
Saudi Arabia Organizes Dialogue in Southern Yemen
Saudi Arabia has announced plans to soon organize a dialogue among key actors in Yemen. For nearly a decade, the Southern Transitional Council (STC) has been the main player in southern Yemen, a region rocked by divisions and civil conflicts. However, in just a few hours, separatists have lost control over all the territories they previously held.
These recent events unfolded following a military intervention by Saudi Arabia, aimed at halting what it perceives as a threat to national security. Earlier this week, the STC announced the dissolution of its movement in a statement made in Riyadh. Saudi Arabia is now planning a conference with major political factions to shape the future of the south. It remains to be seen whether the outcome will align with its long-term objectives in Yemen.
