According to blockchain security company PeckShield, losses from hacks and cyber exploits in the cryptocurrency industry amounted to approximately $76 million in December, representing a 60% decrease from the $194.2 million losses recorded in November. In December, 26 major exploits were reported, including one case where a user lost $50 million due to a "poisoning address" scam.
Ways to Avoid Cyber Traps
PeckShield emphasized that users must remain vigilant and apply security measures. Among the most notable attacks was the Trust Wallet hack, which left users with a $7 million deficit, and the Flow Protocol hack amounting to $3.9 million. It is recommended that users utilize hardware wallets to store their private keys, as these are considered one of the safest methods for storing digital assets.
