Mali Turns the Tide of the Match

The Malian national football team, playing with one less player, managed to defeat Tunisia in a penalty shootout, with a score of 3-2, qualifying for the quarterfinals of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The match held at the Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca ended in a 1-1 draw after extra time.

Defender Woyo Coulibaly was sent off in the 26th minute, and Tunisia took the lead in the 88th minute through Firas Chaouat. However, Mali equalized in extra time with a penalty converted by Lassine Sinayoko in the 96th minute. Although Mali appeared to be outmatched, the team staged a dramatic finish.

In the penalty shootout, the chapter began with a missed shot by Yves Bissouma, but goalkeeper Djigui Diarra saved two penalty kicks, while El Bilal Toure scored the decisive goal, sending Mali into the quarterfinals where they will face Senegal.
