Mamady Doumbouya Elected President of Guinea

The leader of the coup in Guinea, Mamady Doumbouya, has been elected president according to preliminary results, paving the way for a return to civilian rule following a military takeover nearly five years ago. The results were announced on Tuesday. Doumbouya, 41, faced eight rivals in the presidential race, though key opposition leaders were excluded from the elections and called for a boycott of the vote.
