Oliver Glasner Leaves Crystal Palace; Marc Guehi Prepares for Manchester City Move
Oliver Glasner Concludes Tenure at Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has confirmed that he will not extend his contract with the club, which is set to expire at the end of the season. The 51-year-old led the team to its first major victory in its 164-year history by winning the FA Cup last season, as well as the Community Shield in August.
Interest from Other Clubs
Glasner's success at Palace has made him a target for other teams, with rumors linking him to the managerial position at Manchester United. "A decision was made a few months ago. I had a meeting with Steve [Parish] in October during the international break," Glasner stated. "We agreed it was best to keep the information between us for a while."
Marc Guehi Close to Transfer to Manchester City
In other news, Manchester City is expected to confirm the transfer of Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi, who is in the midst of a defensive crisis. The English defender was close to joining Liverpool in September, but the move fell through. Other clubs, including Liverpool and Bayern Munich, have shown interest in Guehi, but the transfer could occur at the end of the season when he becomes a free player.
With a match scheduled against Sunderland on Saturday, Glasner will not be able to count on Guehi, who has been linked to a move to Manchester City. When asked about Guehi's future, Palace's coach stated that he could not confirm the transfer but mentioned that it is in the final stages and that Marc will not play in tomorrow's match.
