Innovative Experiment by a Photography Enthusiast

A photography enthusiast has conducted a remarkable experiment, using a digital camera to capture images of cosmic rays. In this experiment, he set up a medium-format camera in a completely dark room, configuring it to make a 41-minute exposure. The results are impressive, akin to those obtained by Henri Becquerel, who discovered radioactivity. Although the camera used has a relatively large sensor, theory suggests that this type of capture can also be achieved with regular digital photography equipment or even film cameras.

Cosmic rays are a type of ionizing radiation that can penetrate various materials, including areas we typically consider dark. This phenomenon has also been demonstrated in previous experiments that used ultraviolet radiation to visualize invisible phenomena, such as electric arcs. Experiments like these open new perspectives in science and art, highlighting the power of photographic equipment to capture what the human eye cannot see.
