Tragedy in Gaza

At least three Palestinians have been killed and seven others injured in Israeli attacks across various locations in the Gaza Strip, marking the latest violation of a fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, according to medical sources. The assaults targeted cities such as Rafah and Khan Younis in southern Gaza, as well as the Zeitoun neighborhood in the southeast of Gaza City and other areas within the besieged enclave.

According to reports, a Palestinian man was killed by an Israeli drone while being transported to the hospital in Khan Younis. The Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that two men were shot dead by Israeli forces east of Zeitoun. The Israeli military claimed that three Palestinians were killed in neighborhoods in southern and northern Gaza, stating that they posed a threat to Israeli forces.

In another tragic development, a seven-day-old Palestinian newborn died from extreme cold as the Israeli blockade hampers access to essential aid. Mahmoud al-Aqraa passed away in Deir el-Balah amid rapidly dropping temperatures.

Palestinians living in makeshift tents have little protection against harsh winds and rain, with most shelters made from thin fabric and plastic sheets. Israel continues to block or limit the entry of vital necessities into the territory, including tents and repair materials. Nighttime temperatures in Gaza have dipped to 9 degrees Celsius in recent days.

Reports from the Civil Defense in Gaza warn of a "catastrophe" caused by a low-pressure system that has severely damaged temporary shelters, with thousands of tents completely destroyed. They urged citizens to secure their tents against the wind, noting that mobile homes are not permitted to enter the territory.

"What is happening is not a weather crisis, but a direct result of blocking construction materials and hindering reconstruction," stated spokesperson Mahmoud Basal. According to the United Nations, nearly 80% of buildings in Gaza have been destroyed or damaged during the Israeli war against Palestinians lasting more than two years, leaving hundreds of thousands homeless.
