Next Bitcoin Rally Depends on Key Indicator
Market Analysis
Bitcoin (BTC) may experience a significant new rally, and this seems to hinge on an important indicator. Although long-term holders sold almost $300 billion in BTC in 2025, the selling pressure is beginning to ease, allowing an optimistic outlook for 2026 to take shape.
Sales Associated with Long-Term Holdings
Long-term holders (LTH) went through an aggressive distribution phase in 2025, marking a historic reset of supply. Intense BTC sales typically occur around cycle peaks or during structural transitions, not at the onset of a new downtrend.
Impact of Stabilizing Supply
With the selling pressure stagnating, the future rally may depend on how quickly the supply held by LTH stabilizes. Between November 15 and December 14, 2025, one of the most intense distribution periods in the last five years was recorded.
Additional Observations
When the ratio of long-term holders' supply to short-term holders' supply fell below -0.5, Bitcoin either entered a consolidation phase or recorded rallies to new highs. This phenomenon suggests that the consolidation period from Q1 to Q2 could serve as a foundation for a future rally.
