Sharplink Secures $33 Million from Ether Staking and Invests $170 Million in Ecosystem
Significant Investments in Ether Staking
Sharplink Gaming, the world's second-largest corporate holder of Ether (ETH), has generated passive income of 10,657 Ether, equivalent to $33 million, from its staking operations over the past seven months, according to company data. Staking allows investors to earn passive income by locking up their tokens to secure proof-of-stake blockchain networks.
Recently, Sharplink announced that its staking activities added approximately $1.4 million in value for shareholders in the last week. "Our thesis remains unchanged: 100% ETH and 100% staked," company officials stated.
Moreover, Sharplink has made an additional investment of $170 million in Ether into Ethereum's Layer-2 scaling solution, Linea, to gain extra rewards from restaking. This structure combines the native staking yields of Ethereum with rewards and incentives from Linea and related protocols, secured through institutional safety measures.
Several institutions, including investment banking giant Morgan Stanley, are ramping up their Ether staking activities, indicating a shift in cryptocurrency staking from a decentralized finance (DeFi) experiment to a revenue-generating strategy being utilized by corporations.
