United States Confiscates Oil Tanker in the Caribbean
Coordinated Operation by the US Coast Guard
The United States Coast Guard recently took action against two oil tankers, part of a "phantom fleet," in a "meticulously coordinated" operation, stated Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. One of the vessels was located in the North Atlantic, while the other was in international waters near the Caribbean, she added.
The operations occurred just hours apart. The vessels, Marinera and Sophia, were reportedly "either last documented in Venezuela or en route to it," according to Noem's statements.
