Nvidia CEO Reports Exponential Demand for GPUs Driven by AI Advancements
Dramatic Growth in Computing Resource Demand
Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, has announced that the demand for computing resources is experiencing exponential growth due to the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) models, describing this situation as an "intense competition" for the next technological frontier. During a live event held in Las Vegas, Huang discussed the company's multiple innovations while looking ahead to 2026, emphasizing the strong competition within the AI sector.
Referring to the rise of AI since its market launch, Huang noted that all companies are vying to be the first to reach the next technological level. "The amount of computing power required for AI is growing exponentially. The demand for Nvidia GPUs is continuously increasing as models are developing tenfold, in an order of magnitude, each year," he stated, adding: "Everyone is trying to reach the next level, and someone is bound to succeed. Therefore, it all becomes a matter of computation. The faster you compute, the quicker you can achieve the next level of technology."
Impact on Bitcoin Mining
The rapid growth and adoption of AI have already led several Bitcoin (BTC) mining companies to completely or partially pivot toward this sector in the past two years. This shift is partly due to the increasing difficulty of Bitcoin mining, and AI also offers miners an opportunity to maximize resources and generate higher revenues beyond BTC. Higher demand for AI computing power could make the transition to this type of computation even more appealing for Bitcoin miners.
During his speech, Nvidia's CEO also discussed the next-generation chips, Rubin and Vera, stating that they are already in "full production" and on schedule. Huang mentioned that the combination of Rubin and Vera, designed to work together, will be able to deliver five times the computing performance in artificial intelligence compared to previous models.
