Salah Scores Decisive Goal Against Benin
Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah scored a late winner during stoppage time, ensuring a 3-1 victory over Benin at the Stade d’Agadir in the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) knockout match. After a surprising first half that ended 1-1, Egypt asserted control over the game.
The Egyptian team took the lead with a goal from Marwan Attia in the 69th minute, but Benin equalized in the 83rd minute when Jodel Dossou capitalized on a rebound. In stoppage time, Yasser Ibrahim regained the lead for Egypt with a header, and Salah capped off the match in style by scoring from outside the box. This marked his third goal in the tournament.
Egypt will continue competing this weekend, facing either Burkina Faso or defending champions Ivory Coast. Benin reached the knockout stage following a narrow 1-0 victory against Botswana in the group stages. Throughout the match, the Egyptians applied constant pressure but did not secure a decisive victory until the final moments.
