Nicolas Maduro and Wife Cilia Flores Taken into Custody in New York

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, have been taken into custody at a detention center in New York following their capture during U.S. raids in Caracas. Images captured the moment Maduro, handcuffed, disembarked from a plane that landed at Stewart Air National Guard base in New York on Saturday evening.

He was subsequently taken to the offices of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). The White House shared a video of him at the office, accompanied by the mention: "Perp walked" (abbreviated for “led before justice”). Maduro was later transported by helicopter from a heliport in New York, which is believed to have taken him and Flores to the Metropolitan Detention Center, a federal facility in Brooklyn, where they are currently being held.
