Jake Paul Drops Out of WBA Rankings Following Defeat to Anthony Joshua
Jake Paul Removed from WBA Cruiserweight Rankings
Jake Paul has been removed from the WBA cruiserweight rankings following a definitive defeat to former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua last month. Paul suffered fractures in two places of his jaw, necessitating surgical intervention to repair the damage after Joshua secured a knockout victory in the sixth round during a match held in Miami.
Criticism arose prior to the fight due to the significant difference in size and experience between the two boxers, with Paul spending much of the match dancing around the ring rather than engaging directly with Joshua.
Paul (12-2, 7 KOs) entered the WBA cruiserweight rankings at number 14 in July, after winning a unanimous decision against veteran Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in Anaheim, California. He was ranked 15th before his bout with Joshua. His position is now filled by Edin Puhalo from Bosnia, who recorded his 29th career victory in December. The announcement of the WBA rankings and the changes was made for the period ending December 31.
