Captures on the Battlefield

Sources from Sudan report that Sudanese military forces have captured Sudanese members from South Sudan who were fighting alongside the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) during recent confrontations in the central part of the country. According to information provided by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), the army and allied forces have managed to capture over 10 members in the cities of Kazqil and al-Rayash in North Kordofan state.

Escalating Humanitarian Challenges

Over 6,500 families have been forced to flee due to intense clashes, with the city of Kosti overwhelmed by people escaping war-affected areas. The North Darfur Emergency Council has raised an alarm about the rapidly deteriorating humanitarian situation, especially in the locality of Umbro, where RSF attacks continue.

New Drone Attack

In a separate incident, Hamid Ali Abubakar, the security advisor to the RSF commander, was killed along with several aides in a drone strike carried out by SAF near the city of Zalingei, the capital of Central Darfur state. This event has been labeled an "assassination" by the RSF security advisor, al-Basha Tabiq, who warned that SAF would "pay a heavy price" for this crime.

Territorial Control

Currently, RSF controls all five states of the Darfur region, except for parts of the northern North Darfur, which remain under the army's control. This situation has dramatically worsened since the outbreak of war in April 2023, resulting in thousands of deaths and millions displaced.
