6.5 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes

The President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, calmly halted a press conference after a 6.5 magnitude earthquake shook the venue and triggered the country's seismic alert system. The earthquake occurred in Guerrero, Mexico, on Friday morning, disrupting the president's first press conference of the year. Many people took to the streets following the activation of the seismic alert system, established after the devastating earthquake of 1985, which resulted in the deaths of at least 5,000 people. Videos show buildings swaying in Mexico City and cars vibrating in Acapulco, Guerrero. The epicenter was located near the town of San Marcos, close to the Pacific resort city of Acapulco, according to Mexico's national seismic agency. No injuries or significant damage have been reported.
