Strategies to Increase Productivity

Regular audits of your calendar and the elimination of unnecessary meetings can free up significant time for strategic tasks. Delegating tasks outside your area of expertise optimizes your time and allows you to focus on high-value work.

If you are like many leaders, you might wish for a 25th hour in the day or even an eighth day of the week to finish everything on your to-do list. As an executive, it may feel like there is never enough time and you are constantly trying to catch up.

Leaders often ask me how they can become more efficient. This is understandable, considering that many of my clients in the technology sector are obsessed with optimizing their businesses. However, there comes a point when you have squeezed every drop of efficiency from your day, and the next step is not to do more. Instead, you must learn to prioritize better.

Some essential strategies include being clear about your priorities, eliminating what does not matter, and delegating strategically. For instance, a client of mine was able to free up eight hours in the following week with just 15 minutes of calendar analysis. Imagine what you could achieve with an entire day reclaimed for strategic work!

At the end of the day, you cannot create more time; but you can be more aware of how you use it, focusing on your business objectives, eliminating distractions, and delegating tasks that are not in your area of excellence.
