Erdogan Addresses the Situation in Ankara

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has condemned Israel's decision to recognize Somaliland as a sovereign state, labeling the action as "illegitimate and unacceptable." During a joint press conference with Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, Erdogan warned that such recognition of the separatist region could destabilize the Horn of Africa.

Strengthening Cooperation Between Turkey and Somalia

Erdogan emphasized the importance of maintaining the unity and integrity of Somalia under all circumstances. "Israel’s decision to recognize Somaliland is illegal and unacceptable," he stated, recalling that Netanyahu’s government carries the responsibility for the blood of 71,000 Palestinian brothers and sisters.

Accusations of Illegal Aggression

Mohamud accused Israel of engaging in "illegal aggression," asserting that the recognition violates the United Nations Charter and African Union agreements. He added that Israel is exporting its problems from Gaza and Palestine, seeking to divert the world's attention, including that of the Arab and Islamic communities.

International Consequences Ahead

Mohamud warned that this move could have international ramifications and might signify the beginning of instability in the Horn of Africa, particularly in Somalia. Additionally, independent researcher Abdinor Dahir noted that the recognition poses a risk of destabilizing the broader African region.
