Incident Shakes the Kremlin

An attack on Russian President Vladimir Putin's residence in Novgorod occurred on Sunday, "shortly after" discussions between U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, according to statements from Kremlin foreign policy advisor Yury Ushakov. He warned that the attack "will not go unanswered."

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov claimed that Russia's air defense systems shot down 91 attack drones used in the incident, without causing any injuries. However, Zelenskyy denied these claims, accusing Russia of attempting to sabotage peace negotiations. Trump also expressed his anger regarding the attack, stating: "I was very upset about this."

International Reactions

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates condemned the "deplorable attack" and the threat it poses to security. Meanwhile, White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt noted that the phone conversation between Putin and Trump was "positive," without providing further details.

Tensions on the Front

Meanwhile, clashes continue on the front lines, with Russian forces attacking the city of Orikhiv in the Zaporizhzhia region, where a 46-year-old man was killed and a 49-year-old woman was injured. Ukrainian authorities also reported that Russian forces killed seven civilians in the city of Pokrovsk. The Ukrainian Attorney General's Office has launched an investigation into the deliberate killing of two Ukrainian soldiers in captivity.

Public Opinion

A survey conducted by the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation revealed that 76% of Ukrainians consider the recognition of occupied territories as part of the Russian Federation to be "unacceptable."
