After several delays, a hearing was held on Friday at the Chișinău Court of Appeal (Central Chamber) in the case where the Intelligence and Security Service (SIS) has requested that the organisation “Eurasia” be declared extremist. The court approved the request submitted by Eurasia’s representatives for the hearings to be conducted via videoconference.

The spokesperson for the Court of Appeal, Adelina Roșca, told IPN that the date of the next hearing has not yet been set, as the necessary technical arrangements for the videoconference must be coordinated.

When the case was filed, SIS did not provide many details, but “Eurasia” is mentioned in the agency’s report on foreign interference in the 2024 electoral processes. The document states that foreign influence on the Republic of Moldova was exercised through “platforms, influence agents and tools typical of hybrid interference,” including the entity “Eurasia,” the “Victorie” political bloc, and the criminal group “Șor,” supported by individuals under international sanctions and wanted by law enforcement.

If the court upholds the SIS request, “Eurasia” will become the first organisation based in the Russian Federation to be declared extremist in the Republic of Moldova. This would result in a ban on all activities within Moldova’s territory and the blocking of its accounts and assets.
